Jang Soo BBQ + totally random cameo

So 7pm rolls around and I'm thinking about dinner. "I wonder if Dan wants to get some food?" ring. Oh look, Dan is calling right now. Dinner? Yeah, I was just thinking about that. So we went out to check out Jang Soo BBQ, a Korean restaurant my Korean friend Yumi recommended. The price was a bit higher but so was the quality of food. Oh and a surprise mystery guess also showed up. Totally random! Scroll down to see who.

Panchan galore

I got some "farmer's pouch" Chigae (stew). I normally don't go for these stew dishes but I thought I'd give it a try. It was pretty darn good. Yumi tells me that they apparently have budae chigae here although I did not see it on the menu.

Mystery guess drum roll...

It's Dennis and Scarlet (cousin from New York)! Walked right in on me during dinner. They are actually visiting Dennis' parents in the Bay Area.

Wow. That's a crazy coincidence! Probably weirder than the time I was running though Grand Central Station trying to catch a train back to New Haven and ran into Uncle Edmond.

No, that is crazier. Dennis' family is from the Bay Area so that at least makes sense. Edmund in NY? Looking for Gourd Sculptures? Who knows?

He was there on business, which isn't so crazy. I think for a while he was traveling down to NYC fairly frequently... we just didn't know it.

Hey, I once ran into Huang Ah Yi's dad in front of Sogo in Taiwan after he had come to visit in NY and I had NO idea who he was! He said 'I thought you were still in Hong Kong! Call me and I'll take you out for dinner.' But as I had no idea who he was I never called. Months later Ma figured out who the mystery man was.
