Met up with my old roommate Tim (unpictured) who is in SF from Thailand with his brother helping him get setup as his brother will be following his footsteps and attending the Academy's industrial design program. I gave him the study hard pep talk because hard work + good studying beats natural talent + lazy over time.
Potato medley! Who will be the winner? Left: Japanese Yam, Top: Taro, Bottom: Purple Yam
Orzo cooked in a shrimp broth. I sort of killed the shrimp flavor so I guess I wasted $1.50 on those.
Baked in some hollowed zucchini. And since the shrimp flavor was already dead, I just went ahead and added cheese on it. Oh, there is a strip of bacon lining the bottom. This was very hard to eat because the orzo would fly out very easily.
That's the official name. Quite a mouthful. So I guess it has been a long time since San Francisco has had a big concert in the park. At least that's what I recall hearing on the radio when I first found out about this concert. In fact it is a three day concert. On the way in there were plenty of folks looking to score tickets for this sold out event.
A sea of bicycles parked away. If you enlarge the picture, you can see in the middle of the bikes is a person. Just to give you an idea of just how many bikes there are.
A new electric car. 284 miles per charge. I wish they made attachments for these cars. I'm always wondering if I was to get one, then going to somewhere like Ikea would be a futile undertaking but I guess you could spend the money you save on gas on delivery fees but man what a pain that is.
Manu Chow. My old roomate Johan introduced this guy to me. My sister says "manu chow is still around? ha ha." Yeah, he has an endearing reggae/rock feel that says "come love me hippies of San Francisco!"
Here is a crowd shot from the big screen. That's a lot of freaking people. Must have been exciting for the performers.
The Black Keys. They were really meh. The sound was really loud but luckily I had some earplugs on hand.
Here is a shot of the crowd SWARMING in for Friday night's headliners Radiohead.
They had a neat stage set with... they are iridescent. I forget the word. But they catch light in interesting ways. Maybe they are just white tubes. I think you could achieve a similar effect with a bunch of hanging PVC pipes and some lights but they did some neat things with them.
An interesting use of on stage cameras.

here's a vid of the FX. They had one with falling rain I didn't film that was cool and the last song had words scrolling across the bars.
Jen said to check this place out. Said it was "fun." Not really sure what that means. Maybe she was really drunk and HAD fun?
This place has all sorts of yakitori and katsu kushi items like hearts, gizzards, and well I just went with regular chicken thigh for tonight. Next time...
I really wanted to eat ramen though so here was me hoping to strike ramen gold. Still waiting... The chashu was good but it was more like brisket. Cut too thick and falling apart. Not what I really want in my chashu ramen. There were peppers and bean sprouts in it which is just a weird take for me. I want my fish cake, shinachiku roots, and seaweed. Green onions slightly fried too. Raw onions have too much bite and the soup was not hot enough to make them unraw. Is unraw a word? While the noodles were good in smoothness and firmness, they had a clump of noodles stuck together in my bowl which is just a ramen no-no. Or any noodle no-no.
Saw Tropic Thunder with Dan, Kevin, and Jeremy. Had fun with it. Robert Downey Jr. had this weird facial expression thing going on.
This place ain't SUPER but since I had been here a fewtimes, the guys wanted to try it out. I thought short ribs would be meat on the bone (like kalbi) but alas. Instead it was more like brisket and with not much flavor or seasoning.
They all got fried chicken which is quite good. So far, that's the only really good thing there. Breakfast pork wasn't bad.
